☀️ Bright & Easy Summer Ideas
In summer scenes, it’s often easiest to start with bright, simple colors — the sun, the sky, fruit, or the sea. Once you add the first color, the whole page begins to feel alive. These colored examples from the summer coloring pages collection show how easy it is to create a cheerful look without complicated techniques.
You don’t need to copy them exactly. Mix your own colors and enjoy the process — it’s simple and relaxing. Click on any image to enlarge and explore the details up close. Scroll down, there is a step-by-step tutorial below.
🍓 Coloring a Strawberry Garden Step by Step
This garden scene has lots of sweet little details, but it becomes much easier when you color it in small parts.
We’ll start with the soft background, then move to the strawberry plants, the watering can, stones, and butterfly. After that, we’ll add a little depth so everything feels more finished.
Take your time and enjoy each step. The picture will slowly turn into a bright, cheerful garden scene.
🌞 Step 1 — Start with the Background
Let’s begin with the distant parts of the scene.
Take a light blue and gently fill in the sky. Add a soft yellow to the sun, then use a pale green for the bushes in the distance.
For the path, use a light beige and color it in with the same gentle strokes.
Keep your hand light and let the pencil texture stay visible — no need to smooth anything out.
Leave the strawberry plants, flowers, watering can, and all the foreground details untouched for now.
🍓 Step 2 — Color the Strawberry Plants
Now let’s move to the strawberry plants in the front.
Use green for the leaves and stems, then color the strawberries red. For the flowers, leave the petals white and add yellow to the centers.
Fill each little part carefully, but keep the colors simple and light for now.
Leave the background and watering can just as they are.
🪴 Step 3 — Color the Watering Can and Details
Now let’s finish the remaining objects.
Start with the watering can. Use a soft gray, blue, or green and fill in the whole shape, including the handle and the spout.
Then color the path stones with light gray or beige, and add bright colors to the butterfly wings.
Take your time and fill each part completely so there are no white gaps left.
Keep everything simple and even for now, and leave the plants and background as they are.
🌿 Step 4 — Add Depth to the Background
Now let’s make the background feel a little deeper.
Take darker shades of the colors you already used and add stronger strokes under the bushes and along the edges of the path.
You can also lightly darken the upper corners of the sky, just enough to frame the scene a bit.
Keep the darkest areas close to the bushes, then use fewer strokes as you move outward.
Leave the strawberry plants and watering can just as they are.
🍓 Step 5 — Add Shadows to the Plants and Objects
Now let’s give everything a bit more depth.
Take darker shades of the same colors and add shadows under the leaves, between the strawberries, and inside the flower clusters.
Add a stronger shadow under the watering can and a few darker strokes around the stones so they don’t look flat.
Use short, clear strokes and follow the direction of each shape. Press a bit more so the shadows stand out.
Don’t blend — those visible strokes are what create the sense of depth.
☀️ Simple Ways to Use These Pages
Summer pages are easy to use on slow days when you just want something simple to keep kids busy. You can print a few at once and let them pick what they feel like coloring — beach scenes, ice cream, or something outdoors.
They’re often used during school breaks or at home when routines are looser and time feels more open. Kids can come back to the same page throughout the day without feeling rushed to finish.
In summer camps or classrooms, these pages work well as a quiet activity between more active parts of the day. Everyone can settle down for a bit, and the task is clear without needing instructions.
Finished drawings are often kept as small memories of the season — simple things that reflect what the child enjoyed at that moment.
All pages are A4 with clean line art and are ready to print at 100% scale. Choose any page below and start whenever you like.
