🎨 Coloring Monarch Butterfly Wings

The colored examples show how strongly the dark wing veins and spotted borders stand out against orange wing sections. Green leaves and stems create contrast around the butterflies, while flowers add smaller areas for pinks, yellows, purples, and other colors.

The finished examples show one way to separate the wing sections, dark borders, spots, plants, and surrounding details. These colors can be used as a reference, but the pages can also be finished with your own combinations. Click on any image to enlarge and explore the details up close.

🦋 Monarch Wings, Flowers, and Migration Scenes

The wing patterns remain one of the clearest features throughout the collection. Some drawings show a monarch from close range with the network of veins and spotted outer edges easy to see, while others place the same markings into larger outdoor scenes.

Several monarchs appear among leaves, flowering plants, and broad blooms. The settings range from a single butterfly on a sunflower or large leaf to groups moving around dense flower clusters and tall leafy plants.

Larger group scenes show another side of the subject. Monarchs fly across an open landscape, gather closely along a branch, or cover tree trunks and branches in a wooded setting, giving these pages much denser compositions than the single-butterfly designs.

A few pages add another perspective by showing monarchs in observation and educational settings. Children and visitors examine butterflies at close range, while several scenes include a chrysalis or caterpillar as a secondary part of the subject rather than the main focus of the collection.

All of these pages are available as printable A4 PDFs. For the original proportions and line detail, print the PDF at 100% scale rather than using a fit-to-page setting.
