These witch-themed pages are all about atmosphere — flowing fabrics, dramatic poses, and just enough mystery to make the scene feel alive.
Unlike simpler drawings, here you can take your time with details: folds of clothing, shadows, textures, and small magical elements. This is where coloring becomes more about mood than just filling shapes.
Go step by step, build the colors gradually, and don’t rush the darker areas. The more contrast you add, the more powerful and expressive the final image will feel.
🏰 Step 1 — Start with the Background
Let’s begin with the room and everything in the distance.
Take a cool gray and gently fill in the stone walls and the arch. Then move to the window — use dark blue or purple for the night sky, and softer tones for the forest and clouds.
Add a light base color to the floor and any distant furniture, keeping your strokes soft and visible.
Work slowly and fill each area completely, but don’t try to smooth anything out.
Leave the witch, the animals, the scroll, and all the objects on the shelves just as they are.
🧙♀️ Step 2 — Color the Witch
Now let’s move to the witch herself.
Start with the skin, using a soft natural tone. Then color the hair, hat, dress, sleeves, and the small clothing details.
Choose rich colors for the outfit so she stands out nicely against the darker room.
Keep the coloring light and even for now. We’re just adding the base colors, without shadows yet.
Leave the scroll, shelf items, owl, cat, candles, and background exactly as they are.
📜 Step 3 — Color the Objects
Now let’s fill in everything around the witch.
Start with the scroll — use a warm beige and color the whole parchment. Then move to the bookshelf and give each book its own color.
Use soft glass-like tones for the bottles and simple colors for the crystals. After that, color the owl and the cat with natural shades, and finish the candles and the table.
Take your time and fill every part completely so there are no white gaps left.
Keep everything simple and even for now — no shadows yet.
🧱 Step 4 — Add Depth to the Background
Now let’s deepen the shadows in the room.
Take darker shades of the same colors and go into the stone cracks, under the arch, and around the window frame.
Add a bit more color under the shelves and in the darker parts of the sky to build contrast.
Use short, dense strokes and press a bit more, especially near edges and corners.
Leave the witch and all the objects exactly as they are.
🕯️ Step 5 — Add Shadows to the Objects
Now let’s give everything more depth and shape.
Take darker shades of the same colors and add shadows in the deeper areas — inside the folds of the dress, under the scroll, between the books, and around the bottles.
Add a bit more shadow on the owl and the cat, especially where forms overlap. Do the same for the candles and along edges of objects.
Use strokes that follow the shape of each surface — fabric, wood, or glass — and press a bit more so the shadows are clearly visible.
Don’t blend — those strong, visible strokes are what create the sense of volume.
