We’ll start with the background, then move to the house and foreground, and finally add strong shadows to create that dramatic haunted look.

Take your time and don’t rush the darker stages. The contrast you build at the end is what really makes the whole picture come alive.

🌙 Step 1 — Start with the Night Background

Let’s begin with the sky and everything far in the distance.

Use dark blue or purple to fill in the sky, keeping your strokes light but visible. Then color the moon with a soft pale yellow.

Add a light gray to the clouds, and use muted tones for the distant mountains and landscape.

Work slowly and fill each area evenly, without trying to smooth or blend the strokes.

Leave the house and everything in the foreground completely untouched for now.

Now let’s move to the house itself.

Use muted grays, browns, and darker tones to fill in the walls, roof, windows, doors, and all the small architectural details.
